As the new millennium began, Joe had grown the August Briggs brand enough to consider a permanent home. It was always his dream to do this in the Napa Valley, and in 2002 he and Sally purchased a small piece of property on the south end of the town of Calistoga, along the Silverado Trail. Joe began working immediately designing a winery that would reflect both his own and the wines’ personality. His idea was to build state-of-the-art winemaking technology into a simple barn-like design that would look like it had been part of Napa Valley for a hundred years.

Finally, large sliding wood doors lead to the covered crush pad and fermentation tank area, where all the harvest activity takes place, from hand sorting grapes to pressing the grapes before the wines are placed in barrel for aging.
Very simple, very controlled, all for the sake of quality of our many small lots of wine. We are proud to welcome our visitors to the home of August Briggs wines.
